D
ay 2: '
Questing w/ Grull hawkwind'

Grull Hawkwind is the first thing I see after loading in the game.   Grull is a non player character in the games (NPC),  and by the lit icon above his head seems he wishes to speak with me. So I open chat dialog witht he right click.

Grull explains that at the Narache camp his father is chief.   To earn their trust I must kill troublesome 'plainstriders' and bring back their remains!  This is our first quest! If we succeed in ridding the camp of the nearby plainstriders, we will gain favor with the clan, but also we will gain expereince and there is a choice of two material rewards:  A belt or chain gloves!

I find the 'plainstriders' right outside the camp we loaded in at.   Gracefully using the right click and #1 key, I strike once, twice and thrice, and more!  After taking damage back, I succeed in killing it..  our first enemy defeated, whatever it was..  For killing the plainstrider I gained 50 experience points, some boots with a armor rating of 15 on them, and plainstrider remains.   My character genned up with not boots,  so this is good!

The second plainstrider was just hanging around in the same vicinity, I realize when clicking on them that they have a yellow glow, which indicates they are hostile, but will only attack once attacked.  As I attacked the second plane runner I learnt about two special abilities  in my action bar I besides the regular attack.  That is War Stomp, which has a 5minute wait timer after activation (a cool down timer).  The War Stomp stunned the plainstrider for 2seconds (made the plain runner inactive).   I can stun up to 5 enemies(mobs) at once within an 8yard radius around my character using War Stomp. This is called and area of effect ability, A.K.A: AOE.

Also on the second Plainstrider I learnt I another ability!  Heroic Stike, which is a blow similar to my regular attack, but deals additional damage to attack (This is a modifier of sorts, adds to the base damage and increases the chance to do a significant hit).   This ability is only  available when this rage meter on screen builds up during combat.   This Heroic Strike.  From the game manual I read that this game uses a system of damage based on str, weapons and some other figured, but in addition to the regular damage my character deals there is a chance for a critical hit.  Which means based on percentage my character may be lucky and score a hit which deals additional damage to the regular hit.   The additional damage from a critical hit may be calculated in the form a multiplier or simply an additional amount of damage based on some modifiers.  Heroic Strike not only adds to the base damage of my attack, but also increases the chance of scoring a critical hit!

From the second plainstrider I collected a pair of pants with a armor rating 17, much higher then the pants my character genned with armor rating 2!
As I finish off collecting the remains and kill the last plainstrider needed, I gain my 50xp from the plainstrider, and Viola Level 2!

I cant help but notice as I leveled I had no options to choose to improve on my character.  Leveling was automated and linear, based on class, and perhaps race.  It's common in MMO's to have a lot of customization as a character levels, but it is not always the case.  The leveling was simple, and nice.  I hear there are trainers as well, perhaps they can help me advance my character in a less linear way.  We will find out!

Turning in the quest with Grull netted us advancement in the game, experience for our character, and at the end of dialog we choose the much superior 'Painted Chain Gloves' with armor rating of 42!  This brings our total armor rating too...107!

As I read on the gloves, the description state thats this item is soul bound.   Because the quest reward significantly greater then the rewards we've gotten from looting plainstriders (at least in terms of armor rating) they want us to keep it.  The soul bound items are non-tradeable.

Well, thats our first quest, done & done!
